AURORA | Key dates and information for the 2017 boys golf season in Aurora.
AURORA | The 2017-18 prep athletic season gets underway Monday with the start of boys golf practices.
Two standout boys golfers from Aurora programs helped Team Colorado place fourth in the 45th annual Junior America’s Cup golf tournament. Eaglecrest’s Davis Bryant and Regis Jesuit’s Cal McCoy — both near the start of their senior seasons — helped continue the state’s recent trend of success at the longstanding tournament that includes four-player teams from several Western states and Canada.
For the third time, Eaglecrest senior-to-be Davis Bryant and recent Regis Jesuit grad Jaclyn Murray will represent Colorado prep golf on the largest stage. The Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado recently made known its selections for the four-player boys and girls teams for the upcoming competitions against teams from all over the Western United States, with Bryant and Murray among the most veteran of the picks.
ANDOVER, KANSAS | Eaglecrest senior-to-be Davis Bryant kept his trip to the U.S. Junior Amateur alive by making the cut at the prestigious 70-year-old tournament Tuesday. In the second of two rounds of stroke play at Flint Hills National Golf Club, Bryant carded a 3-over-par 74 to give him a two-day total of 145 and put him in a tie for 47th place overall.
Since Davis Bryant gave his verbal commitment to Colorado State last October, his golf game has never been better. Once unplugged from the often hectic world of college athletic recruiting, the Eaglecrest senior-to-be has seen his play reach greater heights than ever before.
Davis Bryant is Aurora’s traveling man when it comes to golf. The Eaglecrest senior-to-be is set to play all over the country in the month of July thanks to his success in June.
Another exceptional season for Aurora in boys golf resulted in a Class 5A state championship and a variety of outstanding individual showings. The Aurora Sentinel’s 2016 All-Aurora Boys Golf Team — which is based on results from the Class 5A state tournament — is made up of the four members of Regis Jesuit’s title-winning team, along with two outstanding individuals in Eaglecrest junior Davis Bryant, the 5A runner-up, and senior Bradley Scalia of Cherokee Trail.
