AURORA | City prep swimmers had their thinking caps on as well as their swim caps in the 2016-17 season. The National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) revealed its nationwide academic awards for the year Friday and two Aurora teams and 12 boys and girls individuals were honored among Colorado’s representation on the prestigious nationwide list.

It’s not often that all six of Aurora’s existing boys swim programs is represented at the state meet, but that will be in the case May 19-20 at the Veterans’ Memorial Aquatic Center. Fifty-seven Aurora individuals and 16 relay teams earned their way into the Class 5A state meet, including at least two apiece from Cherokee Trail, Grandview, Hinkley, Overland, Regis Jesuit and Smoky Hill.
