Ward I Councilwoman Sally Mounier said she would not like her measure to get piled on top of numerous other initiatives slated for the November general election ballot. She instead advocated for a special election next spring with only “Aurora” issues.
“As much as I support this and as much as I will always support it, I see no reason to sit here and talk about it if it ain’t going anywhere,” said Mayor Steve Hogan at the April 30 council workshop.
“I’m reluctant to put this on the November ballot,” she said during the meeting. “The November ballot is going to be so contorted with so many issues.”
“When this VA hospital opens, we at Comitis believe there is going to be a massive influx of homeless veterans. We need something that addresses that,” LeGare said.
The announcement comes less than four months after LeGare won another term as at-large councilman in Aurora. LeGare has served on Aurora City Council for 13 years.
“I don’t see a solution here. Is the solution to agree with the four that want Skip fired? To bring peace to the city? I don’t feel that’s the answer,” Councilman Bob LeGare said. “I just don’t feel that’s the answer. They think it is. I frankly would like to see just some peace and civility for five or six months.”
“We all have areas of expertise … whenever there’s a finance question, 10 heads turn to Bob (Broom),” said Ward V Councilman Bob Roth.
