DENVER | The final day of the Class 5A boys state tennis tournament included a whole lot of mathematical possibilities for the Regis Jesuit boys tennis team. The Raiders went into Saturday’s championship round of the three-day tournament trailing Fairview by two points and Cherry Creek by with 17 potential points in front of them, with several different scenarios leading to their first state championship since 2010.

AURORA | The Cherokee Trail football team made it a happy Homecoming for its faithful with a 24-14 win over Rock Canyon Friday night at Legacy Stadium. The injury-riddled Cougars (3-4) got a boost late in the first half when a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown from senior Darius Swanson sent them into the lockerroom with a 14-6 edge and they held on despite six turnovers.

AURORA | Despite a slow start, the Eaglecrest football team finally got into gear Friday night at Aurora Public Schools Stadium. Coach Mike Schmitt’s undefeated Raptors found themselves trailing Rangeview 7-0 after one quarter, but responded with 48 straight points in the second and third periods on their way to a 48-7 victory in a matchup of the two Aurora programs in the Mount Wilson League.
