Boys Basketball: Deep ‘Blazers run past Gateway 98-55 at Pepsi Center

DENVER | Getting a chance to play at the Pepsi Center is rare, so the Overland boys basketball made the most use it could out of the hoops on both ends of the Denver Nuggets’ home floor Monday afternoon.

Twelve players scored at least one basket and the Trailblazers nearly hit triple digits in overwhelming Gateway 98-55 in an all-Aurora non-league contest in Downtown Denver.

Sophomore De’Ron Davis scored 18 points to pace Overland (3-2) — which won its second game in Colorado since starting the season at the Great Western Shootout in Orem, Utah — while junior King Grant-Perry had 13 and the trio of juniors Austin Conway and Ryan Swan and sophomore Reggie Gibson tallied 10 apiece for coach Danny Fisher’s team in the victory.

Gateway (0-6), which remains looking for its first win of the season, had three-double digit scorers in Austin Hall with 16 and Kamrin Bell and Nyerre Williams with 13 apiece.
