Concert pick for Thursday, 6/14: The Burned at the Bluebird

Kurt Baumann has set out to find a new creative niche in the local music scene, an effort that will hit Denver tonight during a show at the Bluebird Theatre in Denver. Baumann, the former frontman of Kan’Nal, will appear at the venue at 3317 E. Colfax Ave. as the leader of The Burned, a new outfit that summons cues from Roger Waters, psychedelic rock and the roots R&B and soul of Baumann’s childhood home in Texas.

The Burned also features vocalist Katie Gray, bassist Jinji Thompson, guitarist Chase Dabney and drummer/percussionist, multi-instrumentalist Jonny Jyemo.
Tonight’s show will also feature a guest set by local rock veterans John Common and Blinding Flashes of Light, hometown favorites who’ve expanded their instrumentation in recent years to feature accordion, organ and violin.

The show kicks off at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $12. Information: 1-888-929-7849 or bluebirdtheater.net.
