Driver dies after I-70 crash in Aurora

AURORA | A driver died after crashing his car into the back of another vehicle Friday morning on Interstate 70 in Aurora.

The crash happened around 8:40 a.m. Friday on westbound I-70 near Airport Boulevard and closed the highway for about two hours.

Police said a Toyota driver slowed for traffic congestion and was almost stopped when an Hyundai slammed into the back of the car.

The driver of the Toyota, who was wearing his seat belt, was rushed to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said. The driver of the Hyundai was not wearing a seat belt and suffered serious injuries, police said. The man was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Police said the Hyundai driver was likely at fault so charges probably won’t be filed.
