Sittin’ in is a Rockygrass tradition
2:10 p.m. July 27, Lyons – One of the nice things about Telluride is that the roster of pickers hangs out and impromptu and planned guests show up onstage. Case in point: Mandolinists Chris Thile and John Rieschman, who were practicing backstage, sat in with Bluegrass Etc. to a rousing reception. Right now is a set of country standards with Thile and Michael Daves and some high lonesome harmonies. Coming up: Trampled by Turtles, Punch Brothers and Sam Bush, playing his only bluegrass set of the year. On a personal note, after a week at the Aurora Sentinel I’ll never forget, the ancient tones of bluegrass with its fierce melancholy sounds just right.
